The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, has announced that the government will respond to the forecast from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) in a Spring Statement on Wednesday 13 March 2019.
This statement will be delivered despite ongoing uncertainty about Brexit and ahead of a more comprehensive Spending Review which we are expecting to take place later in the Summer. We therefore do not expect this to be a major fiscal event.
Nonetheless, the WBG will be meeting to view and analyse the statement in London at the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation from 12 noon.
After the Chancellor’s speech, members will discuss the key gender implications of the statement and issue an immediate response.
