Universal Quality Social Care: Transforming adult social care in England

Join our upcoming webinar to launch our latest paper in collaboration with NEF exploring principles for a universal care service.

Join our upcoming webinar to launch our latest paper in collaboration with NEF exploring principles for a universal care service.

For the first time, research by the Women’s Budget Group (WBG) and the New Economics Foundation (NEF) calculates the costs of reforming the care sector to create a high-quality, universal care service with well-paid care workers. We’ll be discussing what these reforms looks like, why they are needed and why current government plans fall woefully short of raising the money needed to fund the care we all need.

The Women’s Budget Group (WBG) and the New Economics Foundation (NEF) are calling for a new universal social care system which is free at the point of need, improves the quality of care, and ensures good pay and conditions for care workers.

In this webinar, we’ll look at what it means to build a more caring society post-Covid through a universal care system that meets everyone’s needs and stimulates the economy with new funding.

Speakers:

  • Miatta Fahnbulleh, Chief Executive at the New Economics Foundation (chair)
  • Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson, Director of the UK Women’s Budget Group
  • Dr Jerome De Henau, member of the WBG’s Management Committee
  • Daniel Button, Senior Researcher at the New Economics Foundation
  • Anna Severwright, Co-convener of Social Care Future
