Women Count launch a huge success

We share photos from our recent gender responsive budgeting reception
A line-up of inspiring women – spanning the fields of academia, activism and politics – helped us launch our Women Count casebook at City Hall last Wednesday. The event was a huge success, with guests treated to a series of compelling speeches, a glass of wine and a chance to network with others interested in gender responsive budgeting and women’s equality more broadly.
We’d like to thank Fiona Twycross, Labour London Assembly Member, who kindly hosted the event in City Hall’s stunning Living room. We’d also like to thank our line up of outstanding speakers: Pam Cole (Chair), WBG; Professor Diane Elson, WBG; Janet Veitch OBE, WBG; Angela O’Hagan, Glasgow Caledonian University; Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, Political & Women’s Rights Activist; Sophie Walker, Women’s Equality Party; Amelia Womack, Green Party; and Caroline Criado Perez, Campaigner, writer, consultant.
A message of support from Nicky Morgan MP, Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, was read out at the event. Dawn Butler MP, Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, was also due to speak but had to pull out to attend to an incident in her constituency at the last minute.
We’d also like to thank our funders, Open Society Foundations, whose generous support allowed us to carry out this important piece of work.
