Professor Diane Elson is a former Chair of the Women’s Budget Group and Emeritus Professor at Essex University. She serves as a member of the UN Committee for Development Policy and consultant to UN Women. In 2016 she was awarded the Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought.  She has published widely on economic policy and women’s rights, including (with R. Balakrishnan and J. Heintz) Rethinking Economics for Social Justice: The Radical Potential of Human Rights, 2016; and (with R. Pearson) ‘Transcending the impact of the financial crisis in the United Kingdom: towards plan F- a feminist economic strategy’, Feminist Review, 109, 2015.
