Trade is highly political. Women’s Budget Group analysis on Brexit has shown that international trade agreements have a significant gender impact. Its effects are felt by women in multiple roles: as consumers, producers, workers, users of public services and, providers of unpaid care work. The government has made a commitment to gender equal trade policy but what does this mean in practice? How can we ensure trade agreements benefit women here and around the world?

Join us as we launch our new briefing on prioritising gender equality international free trade agreements. The event will be hosted by Faisal Rashid MP for Warrington South, member of the International Trade Committee and Chair of the APPG on Trade Justice. We will hear from:

  • Dr Adrienne Roberts, Dr Silke Trommer, and, Dr Erin Hannah: authors of the report at the University of Manchester and King’s Western University, Canada. Researching UK-Canada trade post-Brexit.
  • Rosa Crawford, Policy Officer, Rights, International, Social and Economics department, Trades Union Congress (TUC)
  • Rachel Noble, Senior Policy Specialist, Women’s Economic Rights, ActionAid UK

We hope you will be able to join us for this topical conversation.
